Please Read Before Playing Woodmere

Post  Fest on Fri May 18, 2012 1:41 pm

Just wanted to remind everyone that the success of the new course will hinge on our ability to coexist & get along with the other groups at the state hospital grounds, especially in the first couple months. We are bringing a new sport to the east side of town, & there will be many park users that have no idea what disc golf is. Remember first impressions are everything, this is not our park, always make sure the hole is clear before throwing, if there is someone in the fairway politely ask them to move, if there is a group of people or an activity going on skip the hole. There is alot of different activity at this park, there will be days when parts of the course & even the whole course will be shut down, this will be posted & please obey the posting for that day.

This is a huge opportunity for the growth of disc golf in Evansville , & show this city what the sport & our club is all about. Please spread the word & don't let the actions of one person ruin this for the rest of us. Lets put our best foot forward & remember to respect the other park users.

Nick is absolutely right, and this can't be stressed enough. We are all acclimated to Mesker, where there is never much foot traffic. The exact opposite is the case here. Always check blind tee shots out there before throwing. Always be courteous to other park users. It'll take time, but people will come to realize that disc golf makes a great impact on a park.

Amen

Amen to the statements above. As an eastsider (Newburgh) I look forward to calling this course my "home" course and helping spread the word on disc golf. Maybe we can get a course in Newburgh sometime as well. But this is a great addition to the area!
